For seven innings the Tigers swung through thunder. Ryan’s fastball rose and vanished, his curve bent late and cruel. Yet between each pitch, Meoli patrolled the dirt with composure, anchoring an infield that refused to blink. He’d been here before: Kansas City, two months earlier, where his over-the-shoulder catch had saved a no-hitter. This time, the rhythm felt even sharper.
